248 Introduction to Computer Science Teacher

Position Title: Introduction to Computer Science

Salary Range: NEA Contract Salary

Contract Length: School Year

Supervisor:        Principal
                                   Director of High Schools & CTE

Basic Function:
To plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences using relevant technology;
2. Collaborate with colleagues to provide consistent and sequenced educational experiences aligned to appropriate state standards;
3. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities;
4. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs;
5. Instruct, observe, and evaluate student's performance and development through assigned class work, homework, tests and assignments;
6. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development;
7. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations;
8. Manage student behavior and discipline in the classroom in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school;
9. Establish positive relationships with students by counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement;
10. Participate in department meetings, school meetings, and parent meetings;
11. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs;
12. Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources, and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
13. Additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution;
2. Meet professional teacher education requirements of South Bend Community School Corporation and State of Indiana;
3. Possess or be eligible for Indiana teaching certification;
4. Relevant teaching or student teaching experience.

Bulletin 400: Business Education 7- 12;
Rules 46/47: Business Education 9-12 • Business Education with Vocational Endorsement 9- 12;
Rules 2002: Business with high school setting • Computer Education with high school setting;
REPA/REPA3: Computer Education 5-12, P-12 • Business 5-12 • CTE: Business Services & Technology 5-12.

Experience in Advanced Placement/Dual Credit preferred but not required.
