Assumes profession responsibility for providing learning experiences in
the visual arts and supervision of students in a supportive and positive
climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes and
knowledge to meet and exceed the State Core Curriculum Content Standards, using
approved curricula, materials, and directives of the school.  Achieving academic
excellence requires that the Art Teacher work collaboratively with other members of
the school staff and parents.   



  • plan, prepare and deliver instructional art activities including ceramics, photography, drawing, painting, sculpture and jewelry making as well as introductory classes, that facilitate active learning experiences
  • develop schemes of work and lesson plans
  • establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • prepare classroom for class activities
  • provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
  • instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • use relevant technology to support instruction
  • observe and evaluate student's performance and development
  • assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments
  • provide appropriate and timely feedback on work
  • encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
  • maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
  • update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies and school regulations
  • prepare required reports on students and activities
  • manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
  • apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
  • perform certain duties including student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student  encouragement
  • participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
  • communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional


•    Valid Indiana teachers license/Highly Qualified
•    Bachelor’s degree
•    Experience in the grade/content level in the past 2 years

POSITION TITLE: Business Education Teacher

Reports to: Building Principal
FLSA Status: Exempt
Term of Employment: Contractual Year

This position requires a certified teacher for the purpose of teaching skills needed for success in the world of work and business management, marketing, financial services, and entrepreneurship to students at the intermediate and/or high school level.


• Possess all requirements for teaching business education
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and develops workplace attitudes
• Has working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, and current researched best practices and strategies, and students’ learning styles and needs
• Update the curriculum to meet changing IN state standards and College & Career Pathways for Business Management, Marketing, Financial Services, and Entrepreneurship
• Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for students and communicates those to students and their families
• Provide appropriate instruction for students to earn dual credits with post-secondary institutions when appropriate
• Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting, as well as multicultural, gender-fair, disability sensitive. Selects, adapts, and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills
• Teaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving
• Manage the behavioral, social, and emotional issues of a diverse ethnic/racial student population
• Integrate common core standards for reading, writing and math skills into the curriculum
• Participates in ongoing and regular staff and individual professional development
• Demonstrate experience implementing innovative instructional programs
• Collaborates and communicates regularly with families in making educational decisions and uses family and community resources
• Regularly assesses student learning by using multiple forms of assessment
• Collaborates with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students


Minimum qualifications:
• Must hold a valid Indiana Business Education license or a CTE: Business
• Knowledge in the use of the Microsoft Office Professional Software and other current technologies used in business education
