913 Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional

SUBSTITUTE PARAPROFESSIONAL/SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

QUALIFICATIONS:

Substitute Teachers:

must have a minimum of 30 college credits from an accredited institution verified by an

original transcript and a valid Indiana Substitute Permit (obtained through the Indiana

Department of Education)

or

a valid Indiana Teaching License

 

Substitute Paraprofessionals:

must have a GED or high school diploma verified by an original transcript/paperwork

OTHER APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

completion of all new employee forms

a valid expanded criminal background check (dated within 6 months)

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Report to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school. On time

arrival is 7:45 am for Primary Centers, 8:45 am for the Intermediate Centers and High

Schools.

Remain at school during the hours scheduled unless excused by the principal or the

designated representative

Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the

school, classroom and position to which assigned.

Follow lesson plans and directions left by the teacher or paraprofessional

Perform other duties consistent with the position as may be requested by the principal

or designated representative

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,

materials, and facilities

Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and

conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and

procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner

Maintain a professional appearance and conduct personal behavior to serve as an

example for students

Leave a brief summary of the day's activities for the absent employee.
