574 Title I Instructional Assistant- Elementary
POSITION TITLE:     Title I Instructional Assistant
                                              Elementary – 1 FTE
                                              Wage Range:  $11.00-$13.84/hr.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:
 
  • An instructional assistant works under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.  The teacher plans the instructional assistant’s instructional activities and evaluates the achievement of the students with whom the instructional assistant works.  The instructional assistant is required to work in close physical proximity of the teacher.
  • 100% of time is providing small group instruction to Title I identified students at risk of failing or who are failing in reading, language arts, and math. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of the elements of effective instruction to assist teaching and learning as developed by the certified staff.
  • Provides assistance to certified teacher in collecting data for needs assessment, student selection, desired outcomes, and evaluation as requested.
  • Maintains adequate records on student work, personal data and test scores as required by certified teacher.
  • Works cooperatively with student services staff members and/or outside agencies as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION:
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 college credits); obtained an associate’s degree or meet a rigorous standard of quality through a formal state or local assessment (passed the Para Pro Test). Must be Highly Qualified.
  • Must have knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and math.
Working Relationships:       
  • Principal, Assistant  Principal, Title I Director, Reading and Math Facilitators, District Title I PD Coach, and Teachers 
Evaluation:
 
  • The Principal shall complete an annual written evaluation covering the individual’s effectiveness in handling the duties and responsibilities of the position.
