Position Title:                      Aspiring Leader/Cognitive Intervention Strategist

Salary Range:                      Teacher Contract plus Daily Rate

Contract Length:                 Teacher Contract Year

Immediate Supervisor:

Principal in conjunction with Director of Middle Schools, Director of Human Resources and Director of Federal Programs

Basic Function:
Resources The Aspiring Leader/Cognitive Interventionist Strategist will work with students/staff/parents to support the district-wide overarching goals of helping students stay in the classroom/school, as well as maintaining a safe and positive school environment that fosters a student-centered atmosphere. Assists the principal, as a member of the administrative team, in leading the school community toward a safe and positive learning environment in which students, staff, and the larger community have and achieve high expectations for success.
The Aspiring Leader/CIS will gather, analyze, prepare, and share school-wide data to support student and teacher success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work with staff/students to guide and support them in understanding the behavioral support process.
  2. Work with students/staff/parents to develop Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP’s).
  3. Serve as an advocate for students to help resolve classroom issues. Specifically, the Aspiring Leader/CIS will work with students to help them understand their specific behavior needs and then teach the students how to advocate for themselves with the staff.
  4. Research interventions specific to student needs.
  5. Maintain data specific to the behavioral support process for caseload students.
  6. Communicate and form partnerships with parents and community.
  7. Maintain confidentiality of all student records and information.
  8. Monitor students in the morning at rotating stations which may include bus staging area, breakfast room, gymnasium, or other locations.
  9. Assist staff in developing strong classroom and school-wide management systems.
  10. Provide home to school communication and parent education systems
  11.  Identify potential resources to assist at-risk students and to reduce their susceptibility to disciplinary actions.
  12. Create systems of celebration or expanded learning opportunities for all students to promote student success
  13. Participate in monthly Aspiring Leader Professional Learning as well as Summer School support.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal, as related to and allowed by legislation respective to the funding source.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree; Enrolled in or completion of Administration Certification; Experience working with diverse populations. Experience working with community agencies and groups. Experience with the day-to-day
operation of schools. Strong knowledge of child development. Demonstrated skill in building relationships, trust and respect; Creative and imaginative approach to problems. Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups; strong speaking and writing abilities.
