2021 Migrant Summer School

This position is open to teachers within Region I

Contract hourly rate according to current teacher’s contract agreement

CONTRACT LENGTH:                          

Professional Learning Sessions  (via google/zoom or online modules)    

Strongly Recommended (hourly stipends provided - dates TBD)

Mandatory Training Session (onsite) June 4, 8:00am - 12:00pm

Hourly stipend provided.

Summer School Program: June 7th through July 9th 2021

8:00am to 4:00pm Monday - Friday (7.5 hour work day - paid, 30 minute duty free lunch - unpaid)

Monday, July 5th no school


This position provides instruction, training, and resources in order to facilitate the use of technology in the classroom which will increase student use and knowledge about technology. Candidate will coordinate and direct technology activities during the Migrant Summer School Program and teach 3 sessions of STEAM Challenges.


  • Bachelor’s degree (teacher certification preferred)
  • Previous experience working with EL and Migrant students preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving strategies as well as critical and creative thinking skills
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to develop a rapport with co-workers
  • Outstanding ability to manage and work with students
  • Candidate may not currently be on a Performance Improvement Plan


  • Ability to work with technology devices and tools and ability to resolve technology issues
  • Monitor daily attendance
  • Coordinate the delivery and scheduling of STEM materials
  • Maintain STEM materials in working order
  • Maintain close communications with MRSC staff (IT Specialist)
  • Ability to instruct students in STEAM Challenges
  • Experience working a variety of educational computer applications
  • Provides training to teachers in the use of current technology to meet curriculum goals
  • Provides training to teachers in computer competencies
  • Maintains current knowledge of technology and instructional practices that relate to the use of technology
  • Provides resource information relating to new techniques and practices that relate to the use of technology and that enable students to use technology as a learning tool


  • Is sensitive to the needs of migrant students and their families
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality about student and family information
  • Has consistent daily attendance and follows procedures for reporting absences
  • Reports for work on time
  • Uses time constructively
  • Works cooperatively with teachers, students, and MRSC/BSD staff
  • Displays a cheerful, positive, and self-confident attitude with students and colleagues
  • Adapts to changes in the BSD programming
  • Accepts direction and constructive criticism in a positive manner
  • Displays appropriate initiative and self-direction with minimal supervision
  • Contributes with innovative ideas and changes
  • Recognizes situations where staff response is necessary and reacts appropriately
  • Supports BSD program initiatives and fosters a positive work environment

SPECIAL NOTATION:  The position requires that staff must be present throughout the duration of the entire Summer Migrant Program. Vacations must be taken prior to the start date of June 7th, 2021 and after July 9th, 2021. The position also requires flexible scheduling of work responsibilities.
