SALARY RANGE:                                  

Contract hourly rate according to current teacher’s contract agreement

CONTRACT LENGTH:                          

Professional Learning Sessions (via google/zoom or online modules) Strongly Recommended (hourly stipends provided - dates TBD)

Mandatory Training Session (onsite) June 4, 8:00am - 12:00pm

Hourly stipend provided.

Summer School Program: June 7th through July 9th 2021

11:00am - 4:00pm Monday - Friday (4.5 hour work day - paid, 30 minute duty free lunch - unpaid) or 12:30pm - 4:00pm (3.5 hour work day)

Monday, July 5th no school

POSITION SUMMARY:                         

Provide quality instruction based on the individual needs of every migrant child using Art in an after-school program

  • Implement Art curriculum
  • Provide Migrant Summer School Administrator with student records, including daily attendance
  • Teacher must attend training sessions as listed above
  • Teachers must provide instruction to students in Kindergarten – 8th grade


In addition to the duties and responsibilities of a classroom teacher, the teacher in this position should have the knowledge and skills to do the following:

  • Provide Art instruction for migrant students
  • Work collaboratively with MRSC and Bilingual Services Department staff
  • Supervise and provide direction for a classroom Instructional Resource Specialist in support of instruction
  • Provide differentiated instruction based on the individual needs of students
  • Attendance is required for in-service training sessions


  • Should have the ability to understand and accept the philosophy of the Bilingual Services Department in reference to the education of Migrant students and/or English Learners
  • Special experience in teaching Art
  • Must have the ability to facilitate s student-centered, project-based curriculum (must provide evidence)
  • Must have recent EXCELLENT classroom management skills and proven ability to work with primary center (K–4) and intermediate (grades 5–8) students
  • Candidate must have a valid Indiana Teacher’s License and highly-qualified status for grade level and/or content area (Kindergarten, grades 1–4, 5–8)
  • Evidence of ongoing training in best-practice instruction in Art
  • Knowledge of second-language theory and practice and migratory culture
  • May not currently be recommended for a Performance Improvement Plan

SPECIAL NOTATION: The position requires that staff must be present throughout the duration of the entire Summer Migrant Program. Vacations must be taken prior to the start date of June 7th, 2021 and after July 9th, 2021. The position also requires flexible scheduling of work responsibilities.
