SALARY RANGE:                                  

Contract hourly rate according to current teacher’s contract agreement

CONTRACT LENGTH:                          

Professional Learning Sessions  (via google/zoom or online modules )     Strongly Recommended (hourly stipends provided - dates TBD)

Mandatory Training Session (on-site) June 11, 2021, 8:00am - 12:00pm

(hourly stipend provided)

June 14th through July 16, 2021

Monday - Friday (5 hour work day - 10:00am - 3:00pm) 24 days

Monday, July 5th no school

POSITION SUMMARY:                         

Provide quality instruction based on the individual needs of every migrant child using P.E.

  • Implement E. curriculum and after school programs - team games
  • Provide Migrant Summer School Administrator with student records, including daily attendance
  • Teacher must attend training sessions as listed above
  • Teacher must provide instruction to students in Kindergarten – 8th grade


In addition to the duties and responsibilities of a classroom teacher, the teacher in this position should have the knowledge and skills to do the following:

  • Provide P.E. instruction for migrant students
  • Work collaboratively with MRSC and Bilingual Services Department staff
  • Supervise and provide direction for a classroom Instructional Resource Specialist in support of instruction
  • Provide differentiated instruction based on the individual needs of students
  • Attendance is required for in-service training sessions


  • Should have the ability to understand and accept the philosophy of the Bilingual Services Department in reference to the education of Migrant students and/or English Learners
  • Special experience in teaching P.E.
  • Must have the ability to facilitate s student-centered, project-based curriculum (must provide evidence)
  • Must have recent EXCELLENT classroom management skills and proven ability to work with primary center (K–4) and intermediate (grades 5–8) students
  • Candidate must have a valid Indiana Teacher’s License and highly-qualified status for grade level and/or content area (Kindergarten, grades 1–4, 5–8)
  • Evidence of ongoing training in best-practice instruction in P.E.
  • Knowledge of second-language theory and practice and migratory culture
  • May not currently be recommended for a Performance Improvement Plan

SPECIAL NOTATION:  The position requires that staff must be present throughout the duration of the entire Summer Migrant Program. Vacations must be taken prior to the start date of June 14th, 2021 and after July 16th, 2021. The position also requires flexible scheduling of work responsibilities.
