745 Administrative Assistant-Human Resources 2021

POSITION TITLE:     Human Resources Administrative Assistant

SALARY RANGE:       $15.19-$17.00/hr.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for handling and providing support for various Human Resources and Benefits employee programs within the South Bend Community School Corporation. Assist with coordinating the day-to-day operations of Human Resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answer phones and handle routine inquiries for Human Resources and Benefit Departments
  • Assist department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all South Bend Community School Corporation employees
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database as needed
  • Provides excellent customer service and assists in monitoring benefit programs
  • Assist in administration of the benefit programs; help monitor current status of employees, retirees and dependents to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, and corporate governance
  • Assist with onboarding classified employees; which may include recruiting, interviewing, screening applications
  • Assists in compliance oversight of benefit programs, including compliance with
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned
  • Assist HR with various research or special projects
  • Maintain confidentiality, and professionalism in daily operations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma
  • Human Resource experience a plus
  • Skill in typing/word processing and use of personal computers/software
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities
  • Ability to work with constant interruptions and maintain confidentiality
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks with continued attention to detail

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED

  • Strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with conflicting deadlines and exercise good judgment in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to effectively meet and interact with diverse groups, work cooperatively with others, and handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to use tact, discretion, poise, and diplomacy when representing the superintendent and implementing the mission and goals of the school corporation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by and employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 25 lbs. sit, stand, walk, speak, hear and use close vision.
